The programme has 28 practising mentors. Each has built a company. One hour a week is not much, so the hour has to be spent well.
Before the meeting
The message to the mentor should be three lines at most:
- What we are building — one sentence
- What we showed this week — with a number
- One question — one whose answer would change what we do
A mentor does not think in your place. They show you the road they walked.

In the meeting
- Show the number, not the opinion
- Write the answer down — you, not the mentor
- Ask "what should we not do?"
- Expect praise
What not to ask
"Is our idea good?" — nobody answers that honestly. Instead: "If you were us, which customer would you go to first?"
After the meeting
The next day, one message: what we tried, what came of it. Then the next meeting continues the last one instead of starting from zero.
